Right now there are 23 unidentified bodies in Jackson County.

It starts when a body is found with no identification and there's no missing persons report filed. The investigation is then left to highly skilled individuals at the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office. Doctors examine bones and try to properly ID the person.

If you know of someone who went missing you can find the latest identified person list by clicking here.

After doctors examine the bones they then enter their information into a national database known as NamUs.

"We can put the DNA code in. We can put in the dental records we developed from the skull. We can put in our anthropology information. What we are waiting for is for someone else on the other side - the missing person’s side - to put into NamUsthe data that will give us a match,” said Jackson County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Diane Peterson.
