A City of North Kansas City, Missouri man was in for a shock this week when he found a charge on his water bill totaling more than $500,000.
Radio shock jock Johnny Dare posted a picture of the water bill on his Facebook page on Thrusday morning.
A spokeswoman for the city said the bill was real -- sort of.
The city had been in the process of changing out old water meters with new ones and for this man and one other customer, the change outs happened on the same day their meter was read for billing purposes.
Normally, the city's software normally catches anomalous readings, but because the machines were operating normally, it didn't catch this instance.
The customer's real water bill?
$45.22.
The city says they have reached out to the customer and everything should be resolved.
