KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- What was once being called a suspicious death investigation has officially been deemed a murder. Kansas City police are trying to find the person who killed 24-year-old Reyanna Fisher.

On Friday just before 5 p.m., police cars and crime tape surrounded the young mother's house in the 2400 block of East 59 Street. Police told us a family member found Fisher inside and called 911.

Her cause of death has not yet been released, but on Saturday police announced the case had been ruled a homicide.

Fisher leaves a child and the rest of her family behind. They said Fisher once worked for the nonprofit Aim4Peace, which is part of the city's health department. Most recently, she was trying to start her own group dedicated to helping kids who lost their parents to gun violence.

It was all in an effort to turn her life around after past criminal charges.
