A fun night of fireworks ended after a teenager was hit by celebratory gunfire.

On Monday night, Saul Bermudez was visiting his God-family, standing in a driveway with his back to the street about to light fireworks, when he was shot in the shoulder.

Police believe it was someone firing their gun to celebrate the Fourth of July.

No arrests have been made.

KCPD said they are frustrated, especially since they said they spent two days last week going door-to-door, speaking with families about the dangers of celebratory gunfire.

Saul is now out of the hospital.

“It hit me a few inches from my head," he said. "They pushed the bullet up and they popped it out. It was like two inches down."

Saul’s God-brother, Selvin, drove him to the hospital. He has strong words for whoever is responsible.

"I'm begging you guys, please stop shooting your guns up in the air. There is a shooting range where you can shoot your guns and its ignorance, stupidity to do that," he said.
