Amid funding challenges, the Veterans Community Project (VCP) received a donation that will help them continue their tiny homes for veterans project.

During the halftime show of the Swope Park Rangers game on Sunday, Vatterott College presented a $1,400 check to 2x4s For Hope, a volunteer organization partnering with VCP. The money will be used to supply enough 2x4s to build frames for seven more tiny homes.

VCP's project began around two years ago, with the idea of building at least 50 tiny homes in Kansas City for homeless veterans as a way to integrate them into permanent housing.

The plumbing and sewers are being installed for the first ten homes. The goal is to move veterans in by December.
