After purchasing passes to Worlds of Fun, several visitors left the park upset that a handful of the park’s most popular rides were closed for “maintenance issues.”

Several park visitors contacted 41 Action News about the closures, which included Fury of the Nile, Boomerang, Cyclone Sam’s and Zulu.

Others took to Twitter and Facebook to voice frustration about the closures.

“If we would have known that many rides would have been down, we probably wouldn’t have wasted the gas to go up there,” said season pass holder Richard Green.

Green told 41 Action News he and his family spent three hours in the park and were only able to enjoy three rides due to the “long lines.”

"It was frustrating. It would be nice ahead of time to know ahead of time if stuff is closed,” he said.

In a statement to 41 Action News, Worlds of Fun acknowledged the problem visitors described and said maintenance crews were working to bring all rides online.

Full statement from Worlds of Fun:

“We experienced downtime on a number of rides Tuesday, which resulted in longer wait times than normal on some rides. Safety is our highest priority, and our maintenance employees are working diligently to bring all rides back online as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our Guest Services team is responding to any guest inquiries or concerns.”

Some visitors told 41 Action News they were able to get a refund for their daily pass. Others said the park offered them souvenir cups or free fast lane passes.
