A driver who pulled a man from Monday's fiery wreckage on I-435 is again coming to the victim's rescue.

Mark Read was driving with his son when he looked out the window and saw 55-year-old Willie Darryl Wilson in a car engulfed in flames from a multi-car wreck.

"I stopped as fast as I could and ran as fast as I could across the highway," Read said, with tears welling in his eyes.

Putting his own life in danger, Read pulled Wilson from the car.

Wilson's brother Mark was stunned by the extent of his brother's injuries.

"Words cannot even convey what I saw. It was horrible," Mark Wilson said.

The cost of treating Wilson's severe burns is piling up, and Read is coming to the rescue again. He teamed up with the family to start a fundraising page to help off-set the medical expenses for the 20-plus surgeries Wilson will need.

For Read, the decision to run through flames and smoke to pull Wilson from his car wasn't optional.

"It was a human life in need of help, and I had no choice," Read said.

But Wilson's family realizes Read did make a choice, and for that, they're thankful.

"I thank you....thank you for what you've done. You've given me another day with my brother," Mark Wilson said.
