41 Action News featured a few teams that get very little attention during the basketball season. Cristo Rey and Independence Home School were the featured teams playing in this week's Hy-Vee Big Game Matchup in Kansas City.
It was a very tight game throughout for both teams. Cristo Rey got the scoring started with several nice baskets by Dareus Bailey. He scored on several buckets down low and nailed a three pointer in the corner.
However, Independence Home School came back with several baskets of their own.
Rob Mitchell turned up on defense as he stole a Cristo Rey pass and took it back the other way for an easy layup. Tyler Mitchell was hard to defend on the floor as he nailed several three-point baskets and managed to slice his way through the lane to create opportunities for his teammates.
But, in the end, Cristo Rey was able to squeak out a 54-50 win on their home floor.
