Trees of green, red roses too, I see them bloom, for me and you, and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

It's fair to say that based on Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World" lyrics, the jazz singer never suffered an allergy season.

"Itchy, red, watery eyes, runny nose, stuffy head a little bit of nasal drip, sore throat sometimes and most definitely just feeling under the weather," said Nikki Slater who suffers from seasonal allergies.

If you're already feeling these symptoms, you're not alone. College Park Family Care allergist Dr. Bruce Pfutze says allergy season hit the metro earlier than any year in recent history.

"Allergies greatly affect the quality of a person's life," he explained. "A lot of the allergies can be hidden. It's not like they're having the itching in the sneezing in mold patients, house dust mite, they don't have those symptoms. When it's mold season they don't feel good, they're tired, they're headachy, they're congested, they're not having itching and sneezing and burning and itching, that's pollen."

So here's what he recommends - see your doctor to find out what over-the-counter medicines you can use. If that doesn't help consider seeing an allergist to get tested so that you too can stop to smell the roses.
