Save the date for this time next year when a sea of red will descend upon metro Kansas City in celebration.

In the mean time, you can take in the game at a local neighborhood sports bar where the food and beer are the real MVPs.

1.The Peanut in Downtown Overland Park, Kan. (4 stars, 66 reviews): The wings at The Peanut are on a whole ‘nother level. These massive wings are rated as some of the best in town and are always perfectly paired with football.

2. Charlie Hoopers in Brookside | Kansas City, Mo. (4 stars, 80 reviews): While the game doesn’t always live up to the hype, Charlie Hoopers is a perfect option to keep you entertained no matter what. The spacious neighborhood bar has pool, shuffleboard and other games that are bound to score better than the commercials.

3. Rock & Run Brewery in Liberty, Mo. (4 stars, 93 reviews): Tough to say what Yelpers love more here: the impressive beer menu or the creative brew pub menu. We’ll give the nod to the beer menu since Rock & Run has ten various house-made beers on tap year round.

4. Lew’s Grill & Bar in Waldo | Kansas City, Mo. (4 stars, 56 reviews): Lew’s has become known on Yelp for the “Das Boot,” which is 84 ounces of beer served in giant glass boot. Pass that along with a group of friends, add in some delicious food and your Sunday afternoon will be set.

5. Johnny’s Tavern in Overland Park, Kan. (4 stars, 27 reviews): Johnny’s has become a big game staple around the metro. It’s a sports bar that’s never short on TVs, good burgers and the local neighborhood feel.
