KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This time on Chew Diligence co-hosts Lindsay Shively and Jill Silva were excited to welcome Antoni Porowski into the studio.

Antoni, for those who don’t know, is the food and wine expert on Netflix’s wildly popular, Emmy award-winning show “Queer Eye” (a reboot from one of the same creators of the early 2000s show “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”).

The cast and crew have been in the Kansas City area for the last few months filming the third season of the show, expected to premiere some time in 2019.

Antoni said season three’s stories will “warm everybody’s heart and wet their faces with tears.”

While he wasn’t able to tell us much more than that about the heroes the Fab Five helped just yet, Antoni did give us the dish on his experience in KC thus far.

“I just love how much I’ve been able to learn… Kansas City has this quiet type of rebellion and confidence,” Antoni said, taking a sip of Roasterie cold brew, which he said he orders by the case.

Antoni said he had never been to the Midwest before moving here to film season three and has come to love Midwestern culture.

“I’m really grateful that we were given the opportunity to come here to the Midwest. Full disclosure I didn’t know very much about Kansas City, Missouri,” Antoni said, noting that he did know Kansas was known for breeding corgis, his favorite dog.

He said he “didn’t know a single soul” when he got here, but felt very welcomed.

He also admired the city’s “essence.”

“You take your knowledge you have, and you really make it your own. And I think that’s sort of like the essence of what Kansas City is for me. Like, you guys stay in your lane in a good way, where it’s like ‘Oh, I’m just going to focus on being good.’ And I love that,” Antoni said.

Jill and Lindsay explored several topics with Antoni, including all things Fab Five, his favorite KC eateries, how he plans for the show, and what’s up next in his life.
