Motivation Monday: The benefits of Pilates

Tina Sprinkle! If that name doesn’t make you smile on a cold, windy Monday morning, what will?

It was all about Pilates for Motivation Monday at Tina Sprinkle’s Pilates at 1901 at 43rd and State Line. 

This exercise system was developed more than 100 years ago by a man named Joseph Pilates.  Really.

Using a variety of machines like the Reformer, Tina says the key is concentration and control. 

According to Tina, Pilates can help core strength and better balance.

Sometimes people get Pilates and yoga confused.  While both do put a premium on focus and centering during the workout, Pilates is a Western discipline which uses machines while yoga grew from the east and requires a mat and not much more.

Tina Sprinkle also says you can’t “exercise away an unhealthy diet.”

Her plan includes reducing or, if possible, eliminating sugars.

Pilates on a Winter morning!  That’s a Sprinkle of motivation!
