Amtrak is boarding the baggage fee train that has generated billions in revenue for the airline industry.
Amtrak will now start charging $20 to passengers who exceed restrictions for carry-on and personal items.

Travelers are still allowed two small personal items weighing no more than 25 pounds each, and two pieces of luggage, each weighing no more than 50 pounds.
Baggage fees generated $1.6 billion for airlines in the first quarter of this year.
