KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One of Kansas City’s premiere annual events has been canceled this fall.

The County Club Plaza announced Monday this year’s art fair, usually scheduled in late September, has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fair organizers said they hope to announce “a reimagined event” in the coming weeks.

“This was naturally a very difficult decision that we did not come to lightly, but public safety must always be our top priority,” Country Club Plaza General Manager Kasey Vena said in a release. “We are in the process of reimagining this year’s event so that we may recognize the talented artists selected and celebrate art, food and music in new ways, including through our various digital platforms.”

It was the second art fair to announce a cancellation Monday.

After postponing its normal May date to August, the Brookside Art Fair announced it would cancel this year’s air fair.
