KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Eudora High School students will transition to all-virtual learning on Wednesday, following guidance from the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department.

In a letter to district families, Eudora USD 491 Superintendent Steve Splichal said three COVID-19 cases were confirmed this week, with two more tests awaiting results. The transition, according to Splichal, is “an effort to break the chain of transmission.”

“The purpose of this isolation period is intended to keep students away from one another,” Splichal said. “We ask for your assistance by refraining from allowing students to gather during this time. The three most important things you can do are, wear your mask, wash your hands, and stay home if you are sick.”

Students will continue with remote learning through Nov. 24. Student athletes will not be allowed to practice and after-school activities will be canceled during the remote learning period.

While students are out of the building, staff will clean and disinfect the high school with a target return date of Nov. 30.

Previously scheduled parent-teacher conferences at EHS will not be affected.

The following schools will continue with a “modified in-person learning model,” according to Splichal:

  • Eudora Early Childhood.
  • Eudora Elementary School.
  • Eudora Middle School.
