KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Gov. Mike Parson will give an update on COVID-19 in the state at 3 p.m. Friday.
Cases in Missouri neared 4,000 as of 2 p.m. Friday. That includes almost 100 deaths in the state.
In Thursday's press briefing, Parson announced schools would remained closed for the rest of the academic year.
Officials across the U.S. have noted it's particularly important for people to stay home and practice social distancing during the upcoming weekend, despite it being a holiday.
Worldwide COVID-19 deaths topped 100,000 on Friday, and more are expected as the virus peaks in many places.
