KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The directors of the Jackson County Election Board asked the Western Appellate District Court of Missouri Tuesday to push back April’s election due to the coronavirus.

Under the proposal, the election would be delayed from April 7 to June 2.

The petition was co-signed with 45 other counties in the court’s jurisdiction.

If approved, the June 2 date would include the same information, ballots and rules as if the election were in April.

Officials plan to officially submit the petition later this week and are hopeful of receiving a decision quickly thereafter.
