KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department EMTs began receiving the COVID-19 vaccine Friday morning.
Truman Medical Centers/University Health began vaccinating the first responders with the Pfizer version of the vaccine.
The EMTs were moved to the Missouri 1A vaccine category as they treat patients on the front lines.
Three members of KCFD have died from COVID-19 contracted on duty, including EMT Billy Birmingham.
TMC is administering the vaccines at their campuses in the UMKC Health Sciences District and Lakewood.
