Lafayette County long-term care facility sees more than 50 COVID-19 cases

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — More than 50 residents at a Lafayette County, Missouri, long-term care facility have tested positive for COVID-19.

Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia, Missouri - about an hour east of Kansas City on Interstate 70 - said on Monday that 32 employees also tested positive.

The facility has a "COVID unit" that can be expanded "if needed," according to a statement on the care community's Facebook page.

The Lafayette County Health Department on Monday reported 46 new cases – 18 over the weekend and 28 on Monday – and four deaths.

Fifteen of the 46 cases are connected to the Good Shepherd Care Community, according to the health department.
