KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Concerns over the spread of COVID-19 halted the opening of an area farmers market.

The Overland Park Farmers' Market was set to open at 8 a.m. Saturday at 7950 Marty Street.

The market draws crowds interested in buying fresh foods and a variety of other items.

Vendors had planned to keep 30 feet between each display, offer curbside service and other ways of maintaining social distance.

The decision to keep the market closed until further notice was made out of an abundance of caution, a city spokesman said.
