KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County prosecutor announced on Wednesday charges against two men in connection with a deadly shooting in Raytown, but neither has been charged with murder.

Michael F. Richardson, 18, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Sean Hill Jr., 21, of Grandview, each face one count of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of armed criminal action.

Richardson also has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Richardson admitted to possessing and firing a gun in the area of East 63rd Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard, where police responded to a reported shooting around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening found a 15-year-old who had been shot and killed.

Police found the unidentified 15-year-old boy in the parking lot of a convenience store. Another shooting victim, who appeared to have a gunshot wound to the left arm, was found at a nearby laundromat.

Seven other people were found inside an abandoned building in the Raytown Plaza shopping center, where Richardson and Hill were found.

Richardson admitted to being a convicted felon illegally in possession of a firearm. He admitted to shooting at two unidentified men running through the parking lot, who he believed had shot the 15-year-old boy.

Hill never admitted to possessing a gun, but said someone else “was shooting at us” first and added, “Don’t y’all shoot at [people] when they shoot at y’all? Ain’t that how it’s supposed to go?”

He then requested an attorney, but Richardson told police Hill and another man also shot at the two unidentified men allegedly running from the scene, according to a police probable cause statement.

Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 bond for Richardson and Hill.
