KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The man who allegedly shot two Peculiar police officers Saturday with a shotgun has been charged with three crimes in Cass County Circuit Court.

Matthew C. Good, 29, of Clinton, Missouri, was charged Wednesday with one count of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of fourth-degree assault.

The weapons charge is a felony, but the assault charges are misdemeanors.

The Peculiar officers, who suffered only minor injuries and were treated and released from the hospital the same night, were called to investigate an armed subject around 8:30 p.m. near the Flying J Travel Center at Interstate 49 along the Southeast Outer Road.

The officers located Good, who was armed with a shotgun and exchanged gunfire with the officers, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Good was not injured in the encounter, which grew to include Cass County Sheriff’s deputies and Kansas City, Missouri, police officers.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol shut down the interstate in the area for an hour before Good was apprehended around 10:30 p.m.

No mugshot of Good was available.
