KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For two years, Shannon Rudd has waited for her phone to ring with information about her son’s killing. But the grieving mother still is waiting for people to come forward with information so police can make an arrest in her son’s case.

“I don’t relive (his death) every year," Rudd said. "I relive it every day because he’s gone."

Rudd’s son is Keith Wasmer.

On August 15, 2018, police discovered Wasmer and Michael Brewer’s body in a wooded area near Longview Lake. The two fathers had gone missing days earlier.

According to police, information received by detectives suggest the two men had gone into the Longview Lake Marina to meet a man named Sam but never returned. Police said they need additional information to solve the case.

“I just want some answers,” Rudd said.

Frustrated, Rudd told 41 Action News she has renewed hope after hearing about Operation Legend, which is providing Kansas City, Missouri, Police with additional federal resources to tackle crime.

“This has been probably the most I have wanted to talk about (Keith’s death), the most I have really opened up about it, because I am hopeful that since they’re here we will get some answers,” Rudd said.
