KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Independence Police Department in conjunction with the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in an ongoing investigation.

They are looking for tips after the skeletal remains of a man were found at the old Rockwood Golf Course in September 2019.

Investigators say the man’s manner of death appeared to be suspicious.

Though the identity of the body was unknown at the time and is still pending, police now believe it to be 51-year-old John T. Duckworth, who was reported missing on July 25, 2019.

They made the determination based on medical equipment and conditions consistent between the body and Duckworth.

Anyone with information is asked to call Independence police or submit an anonymous tip through the TIPS Hotline by calling 816-474-8477.
