'Don't Be A Monster' campaign from local haunted house fights school bullying

Things are scary in the West Bottoms this time of the year!

For many dark nights, The Beast has lurked beyond the bridges northwest of downtown. Now, The Beast is urging all of us: “Don’t Be A Monster!”

With help from The Queen of Haunts, known in less frightening circumstances as Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, and her buddy, Frank, the "Don’t Be A Monster" campaign aims to send school age kids an important message: Bullying is wrong. All year long.

They take their show on the road to local schools with the story of Frank. He is different than most, and sometimes that makes him a target. By the end of the story, when Frank makes his presence known …in person… the students are transfixed and ready to share their stories.

Amber says the program goes into detail about what really defines “bullying” and how, instead of just walking away, they encourage the youngsters to stand up for themselves and for those around them.

Of course, this important effort is going on as the last six days of the Halloween season are rolling by. Over eight weekends, The Beast will terrify about 100,000 people this year. There’s still plenty of time to be frightened, and “Frank”-ly speaking, there’s always time to learn how not to be a monster! [Learn more here.]
