KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This week, the FBI, Kansas City Police Department, and other agencies want you to call them if you have potentially explosive devices in your home like an old war grenade.
According to FBI Special Agent in Charge Darrin Jones, bomb squads in the Kansas City area respond to residences and businesses 8-10 times a month for potentially dangerous explosive devices.
"From half a dozen calls a month, about two or three of them end up being ordnance. A third of those end up being live. There's a piece of something in there, an explosive material that is still live, so it can be very dangerous," said Jones.

Law enforcement agencies said things like old war items that have been passed down appear harmless, but some are still active devices.
This week police want your help during what they are calling an "Explosive Ordnance Recovery Week."
If you think you have an item that could be dangerous, you are urged to call your local police department or the FBI.
"We aren't asking you to move anything, just give us a call. The goal here is to make sure our community is safe," said Kansas City Police Chief Rick Smith.
