Fight for Air Climb raises money, awareness to fight lung disease

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hundreds of area residents gathered at One Kansas City Place early Sunday morning to climb stairs — 42 floors, 902 steps.

The American Lung Association's Fight For Air Climb raises awareness and money to fight lung disease.

Individuals, families, firefighters, first responders, and corporate teams from Kansas and Missouri participated in the largest stair climb in Kansas City.

More than 800,000 people suffer from lung disease in Kansas and Missouri. It's estimated that more than 5,700 people in Missouri and 2,000 people in Kansas will be diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019.

Monies raised helps fund research and provide critical local programming to help children better manage asthma, while also supporting free programs to help people quit smoking.
