The owner of the furniture store that once occupied the Southwest Boulevard warehouse told 41 Action News he's a found a new warehouse.

The old one caught fire last week, destroying building and inventory alike.

“We're excited about it. First time I've been excited in a week about anything,” Steven Beyer, owner of Home Rooms Furniture said.

Last Tuesday, a massive fire that could be seen for miles destroyed his furniture inventory valued at around $1 million.

“Nobody has any idea what started it,” Beyer said.

Just days before, a weekend storm had already ruined most of his livelihood.

“We have nothing to move. Everything was lost,” Beyer said.

Now the community and his partners are stepping up to help Beyer, whose been in the furniture business for nearly 40 years.

Since the fire, Beyer searched far and wide for a new warehouse eventually choosing one at 5th and Washington in Kansas City, Kansas.

“It'll be all our inventory for the showroom that helps replenish our stock and put us back in business,” Beyer said.

The new warehouse won't be open to the public for some time, but so far, he's received four new furniture shipments.

Meanwhile the demolition process at the charred warehouse along Southwest Blvd is moving quickly. Debris is being removed by the truckload.

“At this point I'd like to put it behind me and move forward and get back to doing business. That's what we're here for,” Beyer said.

Beyer said he could start moving his new merchandise into the new warehouse as early as this weekend.
