KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Independence automotive repair shop is giving back. Blue Ridge Automotive has done 12 free repairs since Dec. 1.

Today, Andrea Brown's name was drawn. She wants to repair a 2007 Ford Fusion for her daughter to learn to drive on.

"She just turned 17. She hasn't quite learned how to drive yet. I need to get that car running, so it's safe for her to learn to drive in."

Also today, Krystal Able walked in, hoping to add her name to the drawing.

"I'm a single mom and I have two kids. And then I have two more at my house. And my brakes are really bad, so it would mean a lot to me if I won. Right now, I'm supporting me, my sister, five kids and her mom and my niece and nephew. It'd be extremely hard. I can't afford it."

Blue Ridge Automotive owner John Burke heard her story and authorized an employee to do the work for free.

Less than an hour later, Krystal's car was back with working brakes.

"I can't even express how grateful I am. It was a miracle that I just happened to come up here at the right time, and now they're fixed, so now I don't have to worry about anything."

You must go to Blue Ridge Automotive in person to enter. They are located at 3306 Blue Ridge Blvd.
