Young Kansas City skaters like Bella West, 7, can't wait for the U.S. Figure Skating championships to come to town in 2017.

"It is amazing!" she said.

She's one of the skaters who takes to the community ice at the Silverstein Eye Centers arena. That is also where the juvenile, intermediate, and novice events will be.

Junior and senior events will be at the Sprint Center.

"Everyone is talking about it," said Katy Moffitt, 15. She laces up her skates six times a week and can't wait to see her figure skating heroes up close. "I'm buying my tickets as soon as they go on sale!"

Kansas City native and two-time U.S. Pairs champion John Coughlin talked about an experience skating fans won't forget.

"There are going to be star athletes rolling around the concourse here that you'll have a chance to meet," he said. "Parents that bring their kids to watch this event and they're wide-eyed and amazed by it, maybe we're planting that little seed for them moving forward."

Tickets go on sale January 19, 2016. Athletes will be announced in November 2016.

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships starts January 14, 2017 in Kansas City.
