Update, March 11 | The victim was identified as 42-year-old Barron Shelton.

Original story | Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a death as a homicide at the Cloverleaf Apartments in South Kansas City.

According to police, they were called to the complex around 4:45 a.m. and found a person deceased in an unoccupied apartment.

The person had been deceased for some time, but police are investigating the death as a homicide.

Police on scene said that an anonymous person called KCPD and said there was a body in one of the units. They are not sure whether the man lived there.

The cause of death has not been determined at this time and there is no suspect information.

The apartment complex has been the scene of crime before, with a homicide investigated in August 2019 and a report of 351 calls for service in 2018, even though there are only 200 units.
