KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In order to help residents start and build businesses Kansas City, Kansas’ Central Avenue Betterment Association (CABA) created La Placita, a bi-weekly market at Bethany Park.

“La Placita is a great way to show what are talents and our ideas and our creativity that we have as Hispanics,” said Susana Rodriguez, La Placita Program Manager.

The market features different vendors and entertainment.

It offers residents an opportunity to start a business and grow a customer base without having to invest in up-front costs. CABA does not charge vendors for its space, which allows vendors to collect all of their profits.

While some vendors have gone on to open storefronts or food trucks, Rodriguez admitted this year has been tough with the ongoing pandemic.

“It has presented us from moving onto the next levels of helping our vendors,” she said.

La Placita will be open Oct. 3 and Oct. 17 at 11 a.m.

Rodriguez said the market is following social distancing protocols.
