KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man suspected in a string of armed robberies in the Northland was arrested after robbing two more businesses, Kansas City, Missouri, police said.

Achebe Arome, 18, of Kansas City, Missouri, was charged Thursday in Clay County with four counts of robbery and four counts of armed criminal action.

Police said Thursday that officers caught Arome after he allegedly robbed the Red Wok restaurant at 9322 North Oak Trafficway and Worlds Liquors at 9351 North Oak Trafficway late Wednesday.

According to police, Arome, who was armed with a knife, tried to take money from the register at the Red Wok restaurant around 8:30 p.m., but fled instead with the tip jar when the employee refused. The employee chased him into a nearby apartment complex but lost sight of him.

More than three hours later, Worlds Liquors reported that a man with a gun had robbed the business. Tactical officers began to survey the area and found the suspect around 12:20 a.m., approaching a Shell gas station at 8401 North Oak Trafficway.

Police said Arome pulled a gun from his waistband as he walked up to the store. As officers approached, he allegedly threw his gun and ran, but police caught up to him and took him into custody without incident.

Arome is also accused of robbing three gas stations while armed with a knife early Sunday morning.

Police said no one was injured in any of the robberies.
