As the Powerball jackpot keeps jumping, tickets across the metro keep printing—especially in one Platte County town.

“I know that this is a lucky spot so I thought I might try my luck,” said Alexis Collier who drove from Weston, MO to Dearborn to buy a Powerball ticker.

Dearborn, Mo., is located 36 miles north of Kansas City.

The city has a population of less than 500 and only has one convenience store, Trex Mart, where Mark and Cindy Hill won the Powerball three years ago.

“They say lightning doesn’t strike twice, but it does,” said Michelle Yanits, the store’s cashier.

Since winning, the Hills have helped Mark’s hometown of Camden Point.

The couple is putting up a new fire and ambulance station and buying land to build a sewer treatment plant.

“The odds are incredibly stacked against you, trying to win that thing, you know? But he did,” said Bob Wright, who has lived in Camden Point his entire life.

“With that building and the improvement, everything that's happened in the last few years, there's nothing to say but everything is going to be better for the community and the people who live here.”
