A married couple returned home from a weekend getaway to find a crime scene.
Thieves ransacked their house in the Mission Lake neighborhood on 125th Street near Holmes Road.
After enjoying Father’s Day weekend at Hillsdale Lake, Travis and Sarah Traynor along with their Great Danes came home to an unpleasant surprise.
“We noticed when we raised our garage door we had a bunch of items that weren't there. When we came through and the door was propped open, front door was open and after that we called the police,” Travis Traynor said.
Inside, the thieves ransacked every room in the house, even the linen closet.
“It's just violating, you work hard for the things you have in your home and to have someone to just come in and take everything - all of my clothes are gone,” Sarah Traynor said.
So are a number of electronics, tools, and a piece of their matrimony - Sarah’s wedding ring.
“I saved for quite a while,” Travis Traynor said. “I kinda know the style that she had.”
To make matters worse, the thieves took the jewelry Sarah Traynor’s grandmother left the 26-year-old in her will.
“I know her jewelry was important to her. She gave it to me out of everyone in the family because me and my grandma were very close,” Sarah Traynor said.
The high school sweethearts believe the thieves took their time and made themselves at home - eating the donuts left on the kitchen counter and drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels. Police were able to dust it for prints.
“Anybody can come and do something when you're gone, you'll never know and you never think it would happen to you, so it's just hard to take in,” Travis Traynor said.
Now the Traynors are working with their insurance company to help with some of the loss they suffered.
