KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The lengthy process of turning Kansas City International Airport’s Terminal A into a giant pile of rubble started Monday as officials gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new single terminal project.
And that process will include Dianna Richardson and her Independence, Missouri-based company, Richardson Hauling.
The company, which normally does heavy highway construction, has hired a handful of new employees and bought new equipment to help demolish Terminal A.
“To just be able to see the growth and the excitement in the construction industry and looking forward now to have this world class airport is going to be so exciting for us and for everybody,” Richardson said Monday.
Richardson’s company is one of nine local minority and women-owned businesses that will be part of the demolition, abatement and other advance work at the terminal.
The new project is slated to open by early 2023.
