KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The University of Missouri-Kansas City has canceled all visits from countries with a Level 3 Travel Health Notice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

University-sponsored travel to countries with a Level 3 travel notice is prohibited for all students, faculty and staff.

But now, all visits from those countries — currently China, South Korea, Iran and Italy — also are prohibited.

UMKC also is asking all community members returning from visits to the affected countries to “stay home and self-monitor for 14 days.”

“After the self-monitoring period ends and before they can return to campus, people must provide health information to the UMKC Student Health and Wellness Center at 816-235-6133, and receive approval to return to campus,” according to UMKC’s release.

UMKC sent a release about its preparation for COVID-19, including a website with up-to-date information.

The university has a campus committee that meets to discuss the latest developments related to the global COVID-19 outbreak "to plan how to respond to the effects of this outbreak on our university and the continuity of our operations," the school said in a statement.

Members of the UMKC community with thoughts or concerns are invited to email umkcfeedback@umkc.edu.
