KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There don’t seem to be lingering concerns about Patrick Mahomes’ knee.

Mahomes, the 24-year-old Chiefs’ quarterback, suffered a dislocated knee during an Oct. 17 game at the Denver Broncos.

He missed the next two games, a loss to the Green Bay Packers and a win versus the Minnesota Vikings, before returning and leading Kansas City to its first Super Bowl title in 50 years.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked about the possibility that Mahomes would still need surgery to repair the knee this offseason, a concern he brushed aside.

“Right now, he looks good,” Reid said Tuesday from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “He was out throwing with (free-agent wide receiver) Dez (Bryant) the other day, so he looked like he was slinging it around pretty good. I think he’s fine.”

Hopefully, that will ease the minds of Chiefs fans.

Mahomes took the league by storm in 2018, his first full season as the Chiefs’ starter, becoming the second quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in the same season en route to winning the league’s MVP.

Despite missing three games in 2019, Mahomes still finished with 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns compared to five interceptions last season.

He is the first quarterback in NFL history to have an MVP award and Super Bowl championship before the age of 25.
