KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs traveled to Tampa, Florida, this week for a preseason matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday.

The game is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. (CT) at Raymond James Stadium.

The Chiefs lost to the Los Angeles Rams 20-12 in the preseason opener Aug. 15 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Despite the loss, there were some key takeaways from the team's first preseason game, including noteworthy performances from Chiefs rookies Garrett Nussmeier, Cyrus Allen, R Mason Thomas and Emmett Johnson.

On the final day of training camp Thursday in St. Joseph, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reflected on the team's time at camp.

"They worked hard, and I appreciated that," Reid said. "I thought we made progress. I mentioned before, I think it's the young guys that you're really looking at here — we have a number of them — and how they've progressed, and continue to progress will be a big part of how this team does."

He also gave credit to veterans Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones and Nick Bolton for their leadership at training camp.

Reid said quarterback Mahomes won't take the field Saturday against the Buccaneers.
