KANSAS CITY, Mo. — When in doubt, Travis Kelce.
Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target (and Kansas City’s adopted son) delivered once again Sunday at Arrowhead, raking in 10 catches for 159 yards.
“Coming into this offense and I'd never played with the tight end before,” Mahomes told the media during a press conference following the team's 33-31 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
Kansas City (8-1) heads into the bye week with a comfortable game lead atop the AFC West standings and firmly in contention for the AFC’S first round bye.
“And then to get the best tight end in the league. I mean, it's special,” Mahomes said.
Not to be outdone, Tyreek Hill continued his endzone streak in the win, catching 12 of 18 targets for two scores and 113 yards.
“You can't contain the cheetah,” Kelce said jokingly during his postgame availability. “He just keeps taking his game to another level."
Through nine weeks, Hill leads all NFL wide receivers with nine total touchdowns.
“[Tyreek’s] the biggest big play threat in the game," Kelce said, "and that's where it makes my job a whole lot easier."
