Good afternoon or early evening bloggers,

This is a quick blog to describe the change that is sweeping across Kansas into Missouri this evening. The wind is about to shift to the northwest with a temperature drop of around 15 degrees. This drop will happen in around one hour. In KC it is timed for around 5 PM to 6 PM. Here is the front:

This map shows the front as of around 3:15 PM. It was getting close to 60 degrees. It was down to 33 degrees in Omaha, NE, so it will be a cold night ahead.

Kansas City Weather Time-Line:

  • Now - 7 PM: The wind shifts to the northwest gusting to 30 mph or stronger. It will be partly cloudy and dry. Temperatures will drop into the 40s.
  • 7 PM - 7 AM: The wind will continue until around midnight, then gradually diminish to nearly calm. Low: 20°
  • Friday: Mostly sunny and cool with light winds. High: 47°

There is a fast moving storm heading our way this weekend with only a brief chance of rain Friday night into Saturday. Many areas may not have more than a few sprinkles from this system.

We are analyzing the new LRC closely. What does this pattern mean for the winter? We will have many answers in a couple of weeks.

Thank you for spending a few minutes of your day reading the Action Weather Blog. Have a great evening, and bundle up a bit.
