It is yet another cloudy day. While our lives are majorly affected by the Corona Virus pandemic, we are all in this together in many ways. A storm system is approaching:
A strong storm will be moving out into the plains states by Thursday. This map above shows the major storm with a blizzard forming one state away to the north. Spring and winter will be doing battle, and spring will win the first half of this battle, and then a cold blast will arrive Thursday night with wind and a freeze heading our way. The snow will stay to the north.
The first wave of energy will arrive on Wednesday morning. Expect it to be cloudy today, and then rain likely by early Wednesday morning. There is a chance of heavy thunderstorms as well.
The year has started wet, and we are way above average on rainfall so far in 2020. The weather pattern is producing enough rain to end those fire dangers that had started showing up just a couple of weeks ago. This storm will likely produce 1" of rain in our area.
Kansas City Weather Timeline:
- Today: Cloudy and cool. It will mostly be dry with a little drizzle possible early today. High: 49°
- Tonight: An increasing chance of rain. The chance of rain is 100% by around 3 AM. Low: 46°
- Wednesday: There is a 100% chance of rain with a few thunderstorms possible early in the day. The chance of rain goes down to 30% by around noon with some drizzle possible. High: 64° which will likely happen around sunset as warmer air moves in
- Thursday: Cloudy with early morning showers and thunderstorms likely, then sunny and warmer air moves in. It will become quite windy. High: 73°
