This is a challenging time, and we are here at 41 Action News to keep you updated on the latest news and information to help you stay positive and get through each day, one day at a time. Our weather team will have the spring forecast, the summer forecast, and we will prepare you for severe weather season which will be getting started soon.
A storm system is approaching:
A strong storm will be moving out into the plains states by Thursday. This map above shows the major storm with a blizzard forming one state away to the north. Spring and winter will be doing battle, and spring will win the first half of this battle, and then a cold blast will arrive Thursday night with wind and a freeze heading our way. The snow will stay to the north.
The first wave of energy will arrive on Wednesday morning. Expect it to be cloudy today, and then rain likely by early Wednesday morning. There is a chance of heavy thunderstorms as well.
The year has started wet, and we are way above average on rainfall so far in 2020. The weather pattern is producing enough rain to end those fire dangers that had started showing up just a couple of weeks ago. This storm will likely produce 1" of rain in our area.
