Good Sunday bloggers,

It was a gorgeous start to Sunday with a cloudless sunrise silhouetting the Kansas City skyline. It was also beautiful to wake up knowing the Patriots lost! So, the Chiefs play the Texans next Sunday at 2:05 PM. What will the weather be like for the game? We will go day by day to Chiefs Sunday.

TODAY: It will be sunny with windy conditions for a few hours. Highs will be around 50°. The wind will decrease rapidly this evening as a surface high pressure moves in.

MONDAY: A weak system will move by with clouds. There will be little wind and the only precipitation from this system will be a few snow showers in northwest Iowa and southeast South Dakota. It is pretty tame system for January.

TUESDAY: It will be another nice day with sunshine and highs in the 40s. Winds will be 5-15 mph from the west.

WEDNESDAY: A warm front will surge through as winds increase from the south to 15-35 mph. We will see increasing high clouds with highs in the low to mid 50s. If the warm front is faster we could reach 60°.

THURSDAY: The one main storm system to track this week is timed for Thursday. It will bring rain and a few thunderstorms from around I-35 and points east. So, our region is on the western edge. It will stay windy Wednesday night and Thursday until the cold front moves through. Lows will be around 50° and highs will come close to 60°. Right now it looks like just a trace to .25" of rain. Also, the coldest air will likely stay in the northern Plains.

FRIDAY: It will be a colder day with highs in the 30s, but the Arctic air likely will remain north of I-80. There is a second storm to monitor, but will track well south near the Gulf coast bringing heavy rain down there.

SATURDAY: The next system will already be racing in, and likely tracking to the north. So, this puts our region right back into south winds and highs close to 50°. The Arctic air is along and north of I-90.

CHIEFS SUNDAY: So, right now it looks like what Gary was saying on Friday. Highs in the 40s with a low chance for rain or snow with winds from the south at 10-25 mph. Now, here is what we have to watch closely. The Arctic air is heading south and the cold front is close. There is also a storm system timed for Monday. As is the Chiefs get the game in under the wire, but we will have to monitor this closely. Look at Bismarck, ND at kickoff time, -12°! Aah, but the Chiefs don't play there!

Have a great week.
