Good Tuesday bloggers,
The weather Tuesday has been about as nice as it gets with almost no wind and highs around 70. We are in an every other day weather pattern. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are nice while Wednesday, Friday and Sunday we have chances of rain. Let's go through this.
WEDNESDAY MORNING: The first storm we are tracking will move through Wednesday. The I-70 corridor is on the northern edge of the system. This makes the forecast rather tough as there will be a sharp cut off between almost no rain and a deluge. Temperatures will be affected in a huge way as well. The storm will be moving through southwest Kansas Wednesday morning. So, it should be mostly dry around here during most of the morning with lows 45-50.
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING: This data has the northern edge at I-70. You can see the forecast challenge as a shift 50 miles north or south will make a huge difference in the weather you experience. Right now we are going with a forecast like this, but we need to see how it is setting up tomorrow.
Look at the temperature forecast Wednesday afternoon. Highs will come close to 80 across Nebraska and Iowa where there is no chance of the storm. Highs will be 55-60 across southeast Kansas and southern Missouri where there is a 100% chance for the storm. Along I-70, on the edge, highs may range from 55 to 75. Again, not easy living on the edge.
The rainfall forecast is equally as tough. There will be a sharp cut off between almost no rain and .50-1.50" of rain. This northern edge can still shift north or south by 50 to even 100 miles. In the rain areas there could even be 2"+ amounts.
THURSDAY: Regardless of whether we get in to the storm or not, Thursday will be a nice day with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s. The second storm will approach from the Rockies.
FRIDAY: There is a question on how this storm will evolve. Imagine that. This data has the storm getting its act together mostly east and southeast of our area. This would mean we would see a few showers and thunderstorms Thursday night and Friday as the main storm organizes and takes off to the east. There is some data out there that have this storm forming faster in our region. This is the difference between seeing 1"-2" of rain or a trace to .25".
So, if we get both storms, some areas the next 5 days could see 3"-4" of rain. If we get one storm then .50"-2" is likely. If we go 0 for 2 then our region will see a total of trace to .50".
Right now Saturday looks nice with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s. A small system could bring a few showers and thunderstorms Sunday.
Have a great Wednesday. Stay healthy.
