Good Tuesday bloggers,

As of 4 PM we have hit the magic number of 80, officially at KCI. We are on a wild weather ride. It was just 5 days ago where we had freezing rain and in 5 days we may see snowflakes! What is going on? Let's go through this wild ride. Hold tight.

WEDNESDAY: After lows in the 50s we will see highs rise quickly back to 80-85 under a mostly sunny sky. Around 2 PM a very strong cold front will be entering northwest Missouri.

WEDNESDAY 2-6 PM: The cold front will sweep south across the region with a few showers and thunderstorms. Most of the activity will be across eastern Missouri where there is more low level moisture. You will know when the front passes your location. The wind will pick up from the north and gust to over 40 mph and temperatures will drop 15-20 degrees in the first hour after the front moves by.

THURSDAY: It will be a much colder day with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s. Now, there will be less wind and abundant sunshine, so it will not be that bad of a day.

FRIDAY: A freeze is looking likely Friday. Right now it looks like lows around 30. But, we could see lows drop to 25-30. Friday afternoon will be nice with highs 55-60 under a partly cloudy sky.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY: We are again looking at the upper level flow. There are two features to track. The first is a storm system now bringing heavy precipitation to much of California. This system will be heading into the southern Plains this weekend as a system drops south from western Canada (the second feature). There is growing evidence that the system from the north will pick up the southern system and kick it northeast towards the Midwest. This first system will create rain and thunderstorms with severe weather from Texas to the southeast. It looks like we will be on the northern edge which means scattered showers and thunderstorms from this first system Saturday.

The second system will dive south into the Plains Sunday. It will bring a major cold blast to all locations along with rain and snow. The accumulating snow will likely stay along and north of I-80, but we could see some wind driven cold rain ending as snow Sunday. There are still questions on how this will evolve. At this time it looks like we will miss the severe weather to the south and the accumulating snow to the north. We will be watching this closely as this is still an evolving situation.

Whether we see much rain and snow, we will turn cold. One to two freezes are likely next week. Lows may drop to the low 20s on one night.

Have a great rest of your week and stay healthy.
