Good morning bloggers,

While the weather looks fantastic for Super Bowl parties, we have concerns about weather for a potential parade next week. Of course, the Chiefs need to win the big game first, and the weather in Miami looks great for the game.

A huge warm up is in the forecast for Sunday. The record high is 69 degrees on February 2nd, and there is a chance it will get that warm. The temperature we report to you is the shade temperature. So, when we say it is possibly going to be 69 degrees, and it is sunny outside, then the actual temperature will be around 10 degrees warmer in the sun. So, it will easily feel like it is in the 70s and even near 80 degrees. This will be happening on Sunday, and then there is a change.

This next map above shows a cold blast will have arrived by noon Tuesday with crashing temperatures. And, there is some snow in the forecast for Tuesday evening ending by Wednesday morning. My forecast for the game is 33-24 Kansas City. Go Chiefs! If there is a parade in Kansas City, weather could be a threat depending on what day it is held. We will learn more about that chance of snow in a couple of days. When we predict snow in KC, it usually takes until we are within around 24 to 48 hours before we can narrow in on any amounts. Right now it appears we may get 1 or 2 inches of snow, but it is still just too early to make that forecast.

January was rather fascinating. As you can see the stats above, it was 66° on the 9th, and 4° on the 21st. That 4° is the coldest temperature so far this winter. The weather pattern is still being influenced by the positive phase of the Arctic Oscillation, as discussed earlier in the month. There is order in chaos, and the LRC (Lezak's Recurring Cycle as named by the bloggers 20 years or so ago), and the pattern is cycling right on schedule. This gives us confidence it will snow a little bit early next week.

We will keep you updated right here on KSHB.com, and on 41 Action News today and tonight. Our special "Road To Miami" is on tonight at 6:30 PM. Have a great day!
