Good Saturday bloggers,
The sun has returned for Super Bowl weekend! This has to mean good things for Chiefs Kingdom! Before we look ahead to some big changes in our weather, it is January statistics day. January 2020 finished wetter and snowier than average, but it was 3.5° above average.
We have a huge warm up and then a quick return to winter weather. Let's go through this day by day.
SATURDAY: The sun will be out along with a west-southwest breeze at 5-15 mph. This will take highs to 50-55. It will get close to 70 out in western Kansas.
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY: The sun will be out with a west-southwest breeze at 5-10 mph. Highs will be in the 60s as it gets close to 80 in central and western Kansas. Wow! This is great weather for Super Bowl parties. Please do not drink/text and drive.
Around kick off it will be just a few degrees colder here than it will be in Miami. There will hardly be any wind here and in Miami. GO CHIEFS!
MONDAY: It will still be mild with highs in the 50s to low 60s. Clouds will be increasing with a slight chance for a few rain showers. Colder air will move in during the evening.
TUESDAY: Snow will be increasing across the western Plains during the morning as colder air continues to head south.
The snow will likely spread across much of Kansas and northern Missouri by Tuesday afternoon as temperatures drop to the low 20s.
WEDNESDAY: The snow will be winding down Wednesday morning with temperatures in the teens. There is going to be a second system we have to watch for Wednesday afternoon and night.
This second system will track north up I-35. This data has it staying east of KC, so the snow would end by afternoon around here. This next system could track farther west. If it does, then it could snow into Wednesday night. We are nearly 100% confident that it will snow Tuesday into Wednesday. We are not confident in amounts yet as it depends on this second system.
Have a great Super Bowl weekend! GO CHIEFS!
