Weather Blog: The Door is Opening for Precipitation

Good Sunday bloggers,

Temperatures today will be 20-30 degrees colder than Saturday, the wind wind will be half of what it was Saturday and from a different direction. This means highs in the 40s with north winds 15-25 mph. It will look like rain, but just a few showers are possible.

We are seeing a growing cold air mass over much of Canada and the northern Plains. At the same time warm air resides in the southern USA. The Plains and Midwest are on the southern edge of the cold air and this is where storm systems form and storm systems produce precipitation and precipitation is what we need.

If we do not see any meaningful rain during the next 10-20 days we will end up in a low end drought. The western USA remains in an extreme to exceptional drought.

So, the weather pattern is becoming more active and this opens the door for more chances of precipitation. Our best chances, as of this moment, are Tuesday, Thursday night and next Sunday. The western USA still looks dry.

Details on the more active weather pattern are in the video below as we go day by day through next Sunday.

Have a great week and stay healthy.
