Good Sunday bloggers,

We are slowly climbing out of the taste of winter that greeted us on Friday. We are going to have a mostly cloudy warm up today and Monday and then more sun Tuesday.

The clouds had a big affect on the low temperatures this morning. Remember, clouds act like a blanket and you can see from around I-70 and south lows were around 40. The clouds were extensive. Northern Missouri had another freeze due to a clear sky, no blanket. The lack of clouds allows the heat from the day to escape and we were still in the cold air mass that allowed temperatures to drop below freezing.

You can see on this satellite picture from 8:35 AM Sunday there were low clouds from I-70 all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. These clouds cleared to the south Saturday and now they are slowly returning north today. This is a huge area of clouds and it will take until Tuesday to get rid of them. Now, with south winds and increasing Gulf of Mexico moisture the next two days we will have a warm up despite the clouds. Now let's go through this warming trend.

SUNDAY: Clouds will increase from south to north today. The wind will turn to the southeast at 5-10 mph.

MONDAY: It will be mostly cloudy, mild, breezy and humid. There is a slight chance for a few showers and thunderstorms during the morning as a weak system races by. Highs will be in the 60s, but where the sun is more prevalent in western Kansas highs will reach the low 70s. The wind tomorrow will be south at 15-25 mph.

TUESDAY: The clouds will likely drift off to the northeast and we should see the sunshine. A light west wind and sunshine will allow us to rise to 75-80. The more sun we see the closer to 80 we get. Regardless, it is going to be a terrific Tuesday of weather.

WEDNESDAY: A cold front will move through during the afternoon with little to no chance of rain. We should rise into the low and mid 70s ahead of the front. Look at St. Louis with a high of 85. We would reach the 80s if it were not for the front. This front is not as strong as the last one, but we could still see a light freeze Friday morning.

THURSDAY: This is the day with the one main chance of rain this week. A storm system will track out of the Rockies and weaken as it does. So, we may see a few rain showers. There is still a chance this becomes more of a storm. If you need to fertilize your yard and this storm is a miss, there is another system to track next weekend.

Have a great week and stay healthy.
