Good morning bloggers,

March Weather Madness is about to begin. It has dried out since the beginning of February, and this dry trend is likely about to change. Rain is in the forecast for Monday, and there is a series of storm systems showing up between now and the first day of spring.. Spring begins earlier than it has in over 100 years, on March 19th. More in this early date next week. For now, it will feel like spring this weekend with increasing wind and warmer temperatures.

Kansas City Weather Time-Line:

  • Today: Mostly sunny and mild. The wind will become light and it will be a nice Friday! High: 54°
  • Tonight: Clear with increasing south winds. Low: 38°
  • Saturday: Increasing high clouds, warmer, and very windy. The fire danger will be high again with south winds 20-40 mph and gusty. High: 63°
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny & warmer. Increasing clouds later in the day. South winds 15-30 mph. High: 67°
  • Monday: Cloudy with a 100% chance of rain. Rainfall amounts of 0.25" to 1.25" likely. High: 56°

Outlook for the Big 12 Championship in KC: We are forecasting two storm systems later in the week. Expect mostly 50s for highs 40s for low temperatures and a good chance of some rain Thursday and Saturday, with a slight chance of rain Friday. We will get more specific next week.

This map above shows the 4 AM forecast on Monday. Rain will be likely early Monday, and then a cold front will move through with a chance of rain and a few thunderstorms during the day. Rainfall amounts look nice on most models, but the totals could be as low as 0.25" or higher than 1.25". Either way, it looks like we will get some pretty nice rainfall amounts on Monday.

It will be a great day! It's Friday, and we will go in depth with KC's Most Accurate Forecast. It was announced yesterday that our weather team at 41 Action News, KSHB-TV, was rated #1 in weather forecasting accuracy by Weatherate. This is our 13th championship, and it is a 365-day effort and we are proud of our accomplishment. We will go in-depth with KC's most accurate forecast tonight.

Yesterday, Rainbow The Big Weather Puppy and Sunny The Weather Dog entertained the kids at Nashua Elementary School in Kansas City North. I read the book, "It's A Sunny Life", and after the story the dogs came in and did their tricks. The kids were so well behaved, as Rainbow is quite the handful at 8 months old. Here are some pics. Have a great weekend.

We are involved in a big event on Saturday night benefiting the Humane Society of Greater KC. Lindsey Anderson, myself, & Kevin Holmes will be there with other KSHB-TV personalities. We hope to see you there. Here is the link to the event: Mardipaws Kansas City Saturday Night

Have a great Friday and Friday Night In The Big Town. We hope to see you Saturday night!
